About James Schwartz


  James Schwartz is a gay ex Amish‬ poet and slam performer.

Schwartz's poetry has been published by various poetry journals including Poetry 24, Politiku, @7x20, Babel: The Multilingual Multicultural Online Journal, The New Verse News, Nostrovia! Poetry, piecejournal, Silver Birch Press blog, Diversity Rules Magazine, Eris Magazine &WritersResist.com.

As a slam performer he has read at The Meta Café, This is Fire! The Zoo Bar, the St. Joseph County, MI. Democratic Inauguration Day party of President Barack Obama and most recently at Kukuau Studio (Hilo, Hawaii) and Gaia Yoga Gardens  (Kapoho, HI).

 In 2011 Schwartz joined the Three Rivers Community Players for a production of The Rocky Horror Show, playing a Phantom. He appears in the forthcoming documentary film The Seahorse.

Most recently, essays by Schwartz have appeared in RFD Magazine, The Good Men Project, Best of Books by the Bed 2 anthology (2014) & Science of Mind Magazine and a short story in Jonathan: A Journal of Queer Male Fiction (2014).
Forthcoming essay in Our Happy Hours: LGBT Voices From the Gay Bars anthology. He resides in Hawaii.
